Emerald Studies in Critical Bioethics

Series Editors: Prof. Dr. Giovanni Rubeis, Prof. Lillian Omutoko, and Dr. Regina Müller

The Emerald Studies in Critical Bioethics aims to bridge a gap by focussing on books that address bioethical issues resulting from power asymmetries and the social as well as technology-driven transformation processes we are witnessing right now.

It covers a broad spectrum of bioethical topics, from digital health technologies to public health issues and biomedical research and offers scholars a new platform to introduce innovative concepts for tackling the contemporary challenges in all areas of bioethical interest. It also provides healthcare professionals, biomedical researchers, and policy makers with a compass for navigating the complex landscape of contemporary bioethical issues, thus contributes to finding solution for some of the most pressing problems in society.

A typical contribution to this series focusses on approaches such as feminist bioethics, postcolonial bioethics, queer theory, social justice perspectives, or disability studies. Topics may vary from technical applications such as AI to public health practices or the structural implications of biomedical research. The important aspect is that a book in the series fundamentally views bioethical issues as results of power asymmetries in society instead of just healthcare and biomedical research as isolated fields with specific problems. Series authors might work in different fields, such as bioethics, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, political science, science and technology studies (STS), or public health studies.

Proposals for monographs, edited collections, and qualification works (including PhD theses) are all welcome.
