Teaching public health ethics
Seminar of the Network “Public Health Ethics” and the international Working Group “Public Health Ethics” of the German Academy of Ethics in Medicine (AEM) and The German Society for Public Health (DGPH)
Time: Monday, Jan 27th, 2025, 7:30pm – approx. 8:30 pm (CET/German time zone)
Venue: Online via Zoom
In this session we will look into teaching public health ethics in Canada and in the USA. We will hear inputs from Prof. Alison Thompson (University of Toronto, Canada) and Prof. Daniel Goldberg (University of Colorado, USA). Both have been teaching public health ethics for many years. Our esteemed speakers will share their experiences for example on how and whether public health ethics is well established in schools of public health/medicine/philosopy, which relevance it has, which experiences they have made in establishing the teaching of public health ethics. We will hear very brief sketches of the content of their courses.
In the end there will be time for questions.
This event will be followed up in February by a similar event in German, where we will look into teaching public health ethics in Germany.
